Ulagalla Wallawa

Ulagalla Resort is an ancient manor house and of great value to Sri Lankan history. It has been the abode of many chieftains whose area of rule extended from Ulagalla in Rajarata to Padaviya in the northern province. The position of chieftain has passed from father to son through generations and these families have all influenced the manor house. The manor house has been restored to its original state, developed and furnished to retain its own distinctive character - it revives the gracious aristocratic lifestyle of the colonial era in the ancient capital.

Ulagalla Resort is the first hotel to be commissioned in the post war era. Ulagalla Resort consists of 25 elegantly laid out luxury chalets scattered over an unrestricted area of 58 acres. Most of the chalets overlook the reservoir while some overlook the resort's flourishing paddy fields. These paddy fields give our valued guests an opportunity to have first-hand experience the traditions of paddy cultivation in Sri Lanka. Each chalet consists of a floor area of 800 sq. feet which include a separate living area. The chalets are furnished with elegance and refinement while combining state-of-the-art amenities. Each chalet also offers a tranquil courtyard and private plunge pool.

The property also a boasts a 30-metre fresh water swimming pool and electric cars to shuttle guests within the vast grounds. Our team of highly qualified chefs will create gourmet cuisine to suit the individual needs of every guest. Recreational facilities such as horse riding, archery, pool tables, kayaking and many others are available.
